This week, we catch up with our friend Matt Bromley, maker of the amazing Blast Skates and who has just released a lovely animated film all dedicated to Blast's mascot, Smasher!
From illustrator to skate board maker. How did that transition happen?
I've been skateboarding non stop since I was about 13 and it's always been a dream of mine to do something with creative within skateboarding. I went to uni to study illustration and design. Did this freelance for a while. Then in a quiet patch I started the self initiated project which was to become Blast Skates, drew up the logo, made up some plans, made some stickers, then t-shirts and I guess it's snowballed from there...
What happy news can you share with us?
Things are really exciting with blast skates and some very exciting projects are on the horizon, one in particular involving my favourite kids book from japan, that's all I'm giving away for now though!
What are your hopes and dreams for Blast?
To have a blast! Ahaaha!
Last but not least, where can we buy a Blast board?
They are only available from the site shop here.
