We don't know of any moving image festivals that are as eclectic, rich and thrilling as Flatpack. Kicking off today around the city of Birmingham in more than 120 venues (from cathedrals to cafes), Flatpack curates and showcases the most exciting films and animation shorts from all around the world and from all ages.
Their programme ranges from spooky Edwardian shorts to Camera Obscura workshop, from hard-hitting documentaries to 70s classics. That's just for grown-ups!
Their kids programme, Colourbox, kicks off next weekend with an array of delightful animated treasures from times past. Screenings include early 20th Century Fairy Tales movies, surreal animated shorts such as My Mom is an Airplane and the gorgeous Zarafa. There are also workshops to keep your little ones inspired, from movie poster making to Cinema Colouring Walls and Draw your Favourite Cartoon Character.... by yours truly!
We are super proud to be involved in such wonderful event, which celebrates the most interesting stuff happening in the moving image world, away from over-CGI'ed and over-priced kids movies! We hope you will join our very own Jenny and her team of drawers at Mac on Saturday.
