Tommy Doll at Hospital Museum
Herbs at Hospital Museum
Museum of Brands
As London gets even busier during half term holidays, we much prefer to stay away from the maddening crowds and pay a visit to some of the smaller museums our great city has on offer. They offer unique collections and strange things to stare at, which is perfect for firing up our imagination!
We visited this museum for the first time yesterday and we loved finding out how gulp-ingly gruesome medicine was in the old days! We discovered that marshmallow is actually a plant (not sure whether it counts as your five a day!) and that frogs were used up until the 1960s as pregnancy tests! How? Well, a frog impregnated with the urine of a pregnant lady would lay eggs so if it did, you were guaranteed to be with child!
THE place to go if you want to be transported back to your childhood. It is jam packed with treasures from the past, brands that, whether we like it or not, have been part of our growing up. It has toys, posters, tins, cans, cereal boxes and many more fabulous oddities.
