Meet the Happy Stockist: Lion Street Store.

Tell us who you are, how long you have had your shop for and what inspired you to launch it?
I am Sarah Benton, I curate Lion Street Store, based in the town of Rye, East Sussex. An independent store which celebrates the useful and the beautiful. We stock the finest in unusual homewares, toys, textiles, stationery and confectionery alongside exhibitions by artists and makers from across Great Britain and beyond. We have been open now since October 2012. I launched the store to create a space that would inspire every member of the family and to showcase some of the fantastic designers that are currently on the scene such as Alice Pattullo, Nicholas John Frith and Tom Frost.

What were your favourite books when growing up?
My favourite books when growing up were everything by Roald Dahl. He was my absolute hero. I wrote to him when I was about 8 and still have his reply. Books are a very important part of my life and we have recently introduced a range of more unusual books to the store alongside our permanent stash of independent publications such as Kinfolk, Fire and Knives and of course our favourite, Anorak.

What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading The Children's Book by A.S.Byatt. It is set in and around the area I live in, a really wonderful story.
