Isn't it fascinating to think that us humans would spend a lifetime trying to work out how to make robots more humans? That is what a lot of super clever engineers all around the world are indeed trying to achieve. Their conclusion? It's blooming hard to be a human. And magical too.
This is perfectly illustrated in an excellent National Geographic documentary currently showing at the Science Museum’s IMAX 3D Theatre in London. Robots reveals how cutting edge designers and engineers are collaborating on a new generation of humanoid robots that work like us, play like us, learn, and even look like us.
We found some of these humanoids un-nerving, like the robot actor RoboThespian, others utterly endearing like the super cute ICub and couldn't help but chuckle at poor Atlas who is still trying to learn how to walk without tripping over!
This excellent documentary, suitable for ALL, whether science or robots nerds or not, will make you feel appreciative of how clever we truly are, when just grabbing hold of a glass is such a difficult thing to do for our robots counterparts!
And you never know, one day, robots might even be able to produce an entire issue of our Happy Mag for Kids. Now there's a thought!
