An impressionist painting of a fire comes to life. A piece of paper scrunched into a ballerina dances away. These are the delightful (and witty) scenes you will find in Witold Giersz’s painted animated movies. I discovered his amazing work thanks to the Polish Film Festival that took place in London last weekend and I am completely hooked. At a screening on Saturday, we were shown a few of his masterpieces as well as a five minute extract of this new movie Signum. He has been working for the last four years animating the neo-palithic art found on the Chauvet caves, drawing on slabs of real stone. We cannot wait to see it. In the meantime, you can enjoy a few of his short films here.
